Imagine there's no heaven,
It's easy if you try,
No hell below us,
Above us only sky,
Imagine all the people
living for today...
Imagine there's no countries,
It isn't hard to do,
Nothing to kill or die for,
No religion too,
Imagine all the people
living life in peace...
Imagine no possesions,
I wonder if you can,
No need for greed or hunger,
A brotherhood of man,
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world...
You may say I'm a dreamer,
but I'm not the only one,
I hope some day you'll join us,
And the world will live as one.

Gary Morgan & PanAmericana (Big Band) Last night at the Bistro, Gary presented an all-star line-up of some of Canada's finest jazz musicians; Roberto Occhipinti [bass], Hilario Duran [piano], Mark Kelso [drums], Trumpets: Jason Logue, Brian O'Kane, Bobby Rice, Trombones: Al Kay, Terry Promane, William Carn and Pete Hysen, French Horn: James MacDonald, Saxophones: John Johnson, Harvey Kogen, Perry White, Quinsin Nachoff & Pol Cousee, Percussion: Rick Lazar. "Leader Gary Morgan, a native of Santiago, Chile, is a lifelong lover of Latin music with many trips to Brazil and Cuba to his credit. He started “PanAmericana!” six years ago to combine the propulsive rhythms of Latin music with the orchestral sonorities and harmonic richness of the jazz orchestra, with the addition of French horns and Latin percussion. The recent emphasis in the band has been the orchestration and arrangement of some of the wealth of material emerging from the contemporary composers of Brazil, who do not have much exposure in this country, including such major talents as Egberto Gismonti, Milton Nascimento, Hermeto Pascoal, Jovino Santos Neto and Itibere Zwarg. This is not your father's big band!" Sorry for the terrible sound quality what can I say ... you had to be there.

Standing room only at the Montreal Bistro last night, as people lined up to pay tribute to Eugene Amaro one of Canada's finest jazz musicians. It was a who's who of Canadian jazz many of whom took turns on the bandstand to play some really great music. Here Roberto Occhipinti shares a moment with Eugene.

Geordie Haley and his Every Time Band. I dropped by the Rex last night not knowing who was playing and was blown away with what I discovered. This ain't no bubble gum music.
